History

Gateman traces its roots to Gateman Security Systems (Pvt.) Ltd. a Zimbabwean Physical and Electronic security firm established and incorporated in A.D. 1996.After first achieving considerable success in its domestic market the Gateman brand was exported to East Africa where it achieved market prominence, successfully executing several notable projects in the territory.

In course of time the Gateman brand evolved from a security brand into a truly entrepreneurial brand via adventurous foray not only into new territories but also through new service and product offerings. This period of growth culminated in the conception of Gateman Electrical & Cabling (Uganda), Gateman Construction (Malawi),Gateman Business Solutions (Zimbabwe),Alfy & Sons Investments (Zimbabwe) and Mhlaba Distribution Dynamics (South Africa).It was during this period that Gateman Africa Holdings was incorporated with the design of being the holding entity for the various enterprises in the Gateman fold.

The brilliance of this growth was shadowed by negative political and economic precipitations in the company’s chief markets which necessitated a revision in corporate direction and strategy. It was, from this imperative context that Gateman entered into another period of transformation from which it has emerged as the organization it is today.

Today Gateman is a fast maturing and dynamic, diversified trading conglomerate which is poised for greater, entrepreneurially driven growth.
